Question for LS3 Owners
Sorry but I am a newbie driving a "High Performance" car like the Camaro, never had one of em powerful cars before.
Does anyone know what the maximum speeds are that you can reach for each gear? Thanks! |

Total guess, but I'd say 50/90/130 for the first 3 gears. Don't shoot me, mines an L99, but that should be a good ballpark until someone posts the real numbers.

Hi, this is the third time I've answered this question.....but happy to do it again!
According to Road & Track June 2009 road test on the 2010 SS Camaro: 1st 6500 rpm 52 MPH 2nd 6500 rpm 76 MPH 3rd 6500 rpm 110 MPH 4th 6400 rpm 155 MPH* 5th 5400 rpm 155 MPH* 6th 3650 rpm 155 MPH* *The computer in the 2010 Camaro limits top speed to 155MPH. |

Thanks for the info. So say if you are going at 70Mph on gear 6, and a ricer comes by and shows off... would it be quicker to shift down to gear 2 and shift to gear 3 as soon as you hit 6500 rpm, or just shift directly to gear 3?

I dont think I would go to 2nd at 70mph cause the double shifts so close together would actually slow you down... now 60, yeah 2nd and your off..

Commits weekly crime

3rd would be fastest from 70, but 4th pulls pretty hard from there as well.
And, why would you go to 2nd? 6000 rpm is 72, not worth it for that...

At least I was close on 1st gear. I must have forgotten 2nd gear when I was trying to remember them.

Catch me if you can

Take it to the track. You'll reach those limits fast in the 1/4 mile. Most of the time I'm just finishing up the run at 103.9 mph in 3rd....and it still feels like it wants to give more before I let off.

Now, if your at the track or on a closed course, shove it into 3rd, dump the clutch and smile as you blow by all but the best of the "ricers" and laugh hysterically as his Vtec grenades.

When I race my car down the quarter mile I hit the rev limiter (fuel shutoff) right as im at the finish line in 3rd gear and hit 110mph almost everytime.
