worked a 2010 Cam wreck the other day
so....I do some moon-lighting as a paramedic and worked my second 2010 Camaro wreck the other day. middle aged, mature guy comes home with his brand new SS, on the same back road that he has driven everyday for the past 30 years. hit a small hill in the road estimated at about 140. flipped end over end several times. he was half-way ejected through the driver side window so, everytime the car came down...you know.
had a friend with him riding shotgun who was fine, walking around. the engine block landed about 50 yards away from the chassis. the only way that i could tell it was a Camaro was the red SS symbol that was still intact on the trunk. i love my car, and wouldn't trade it for anything...but let's all be safe and go home at the end of the day |

WOW. Sorry to hear that, regardless of what car he was driving. Was he wearing a seat belt? There's not much space to get a torso over the steering wheel through the narrow front windshield. Really horrific. You wonder what people are thinking when they do something like this. Thank God the passenger was okay.

yes, he was belted. you're right...and not much room through the windows either. you reach a point though where seat belts don't help much at certain speeds, unless you are driving a stock car with a five point harness

Thats the thing about stupid mistakes. Sometimes you only get to make them once. Sad.

Sounds like a really bad way to go out. Important to note that the passenger walked away and there was no report of a fire from the OP...that is a pretty good testiment to the safety of this car.
140 on a back road is insane...save that for the track people. Only road you should be doing that is outside Ely Nevada during the Silver State Classic.

It is something I've done once and honestly just don't feel the need to do again (and this was several years ago in my Z, but I still have no compulsion to in the camaro)...but I only CONSIDERED doing a high speed run WAY late at night, on a flat, straight, 3 lane stretch of interstate.
To do 140 on anything less is...well it's beyond dangerous on that type of road, but a back road? It's purely suicidal...

Thank you for not traumatizing us with pictures. It couldn't have been pretty.
