multi-color halo

hey guys, I bought AAC dual halo kit and was not impressed so i will be sending them back or selling. I have the RS package and found that the halo is actually only one LED bulb on a round digi- key style tubing. I went to local sound shop and got a muilti color led (not rainbow but able to choose different color by the click of my remote)which i connected to my remote system of the leds that i had alread installed. bottom line is now i retained the factory RS helo syle apearance but have a whole color spectrum of colors. looks awesome. There are many more colors to because the combination of light intensity from the primary colors allow for the whole spectrum of colors. i just could not post that many pics. cost me only $40.00 for the multicolor led. I already had led remote which was $75 for my previous light installation. Now lights can accessorize any outfit lol!!!!

Factory halos are a bit dim. IMHO. I like lots of LEDS.

In the end it is up to you as to what look your after. Doesn't matter what others think.

Looks great.

Would you provide more details on how someone would do this? Perhaps create a full write-up for the DIY section. Thanks!

I still have not sealed the light cover on my head lights so I'll make a write up and some pics of the parts so that u can see what's inside light housing with out opening yours up. I am working today but will work on this this weekend and try and post a video. I will also talk to local sound shop to see if I can get a model number for the LEDs and remote system that is in my car. I will also see if they would be intersted in me posting their info so members could order lights and remote system from them if plp are having trouble finding these types of LEDs . I will post it in the DIY forum. I did not install the remote unit scense it was alread installed by the my original LEDs for the engine bay. Getting the led for light was as simple as taking out factory white led and puting this multicolor output led and tie it into my existing engine bay leds. I am consulting with the sound shop installer about being able to also have it connected to factory led connection to have normal white controled by head lights when driving so that I won't accidently have colors on when driving with headlights on. He said only need to add diodes to prevent back flow of current to remote control unit and it should work as factory with headlight function and color change with headlights off by using the remote. Will post if works this way once diodes come in as of now the helos are connecting just to remote. Which I can turn on to white sense I can change colors.

I am still waiting on the diodes to come in. I did talk with the installer/ co owner of soundvison and seemed up for the idea of puting a kit together to sell once we make sure that these diode work to keep from having back current from the headlights that could damage the remote unit. We are expecting to get them in wed or Thurs. In worse case I will not have helo wired to come on automaticly with headlights. I would have to have it only wired to the remote unit. I still see it as a win if that were the case due to having the capability to choose any color I want on, I can also have it fade into the various colors, and flash at different speeds. Hoping for full factory normal operation and added remote color change and effects with remote. Just keeping ya updated. I am currently trying to develop a solution that would allow color change with the fog lights. I will try to place a led strip in with the fog light to see how it looks but don't think it will be that simple.

Becca, anything new on this? I just installed the AAC halos and I SOOOOO wish I had seen this first. You posted this the day I finished mine. LOL. However, I have a few friends that would definately be interested in this. They've already been trying to recruit me to help them with their halos once the purchase them. Keep us posted. Would love to know how you installed the LED bulb etc.
