Is this possible in a 2010 Synergy Camaro. I am not sure what color the LEDs are. Also do you happen to know any installers around So-Cal area?

2SSRS@Gen5diy 07-31-2011 03:19 PM

You have the blue LED's in your car.

ofer should i do the non drill method to do my abl ?

2SSRS@Gen5diy 07-31-2011 03:52 PM

If you want to keep the dash stock, i have done it 3 different ways and like some things on one more then others.

Pharmaro 07-31-2011 07:18 PM

I was looking to do this mod and change the color of the LEDs out. Does anyone know if these are 5mm or 10mm LEDS in the GM set ups?

2SSRS@Gen5diy 07-31-2011 08:08 PM

5MM on your doors.

camaro2lt 07-31-2011 08:23 PM

which way do you think i should do?

2SSRS@Gen5diy 07-31-2011 08:31 PM

Do the non drill way its faster and safer.

The dash ABL was supposed to be my first mod almost two years ago, but the more I read this DIY the more indecisive I was, as to how I was going to do it. I must admit, after seeing several EL wire installs by CAMARORICK, I was pretty sure that was the route I was going to take. After all, CAMARORICK’s EL wire install really looks awesome and he does such a neat and tidy job that looks like it could be stock. Yes... you have to sand the trim... yes you have to trim some of the clips on the trim to glue the clear plastic tubing on. (to run the EL wire through). :mad0259: Lots of work, but in the end, the trim snaps all the way back on for that stock look with a very even glow that matches the doors very well. :w00t:

So... I finally got around to starting mine this week. I decided to try TAG YOUR IT method first, :iono: seeing that it seemed very easy and was the least evasive. No sanding or trimming clips. No drilling or gluing. Just some weather stripping from the hardware store (how can this possibly work or look any good, right?:sm0:). The polite kudo’s from the FBODFATHER at C5F2 didn’t hurt either . Well... I did the passenger side tonight in no time at all and my impressions are... :confused0068:AWESOME:confused0068:. I mean, man... this really looks good! Matches the doors perfectly. And simple to do. You can’t see the 2mm gap between the trim and dash during the day . And once the weather stripping is adjusted properly, the trim snapped all the way back in, (as far as it would go anyways). I think I'm going to leave it just as it is... just to see if it stays that way. :iono: I mean, how could something that easy to do, stay that way :iono:.

:happyanim:

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this (and all) DIY .

This is my favourite read on the forum :w00t:.

Ok... better include some of my crappy pictures so I don’t get the :needpics:

Only thing left to do is Fix the door panels so the light goes all the way to the end.

This is my next endeavor...

Quite nervous, but will be giving it a shot in the next few weeks....

For sure... That would look better.

More than that though, I'd love to have the red halos around my speedo and tach that everyone else has. Mine are blue. I know what your thinking... why do I have blue halos around my gauges when have the orange interior. Turns out, because I have a canadian car, they don't make a cluster with the orange halos for Canadian cars. Looks dumb if you ask me.

I wonder if I can just buy a US cluster with the orange halos and plug it in?

:iono:

2SSRS@Gen5diy 08-12-2011 07:59 AM

Or if you can solder you can replace the LED's in side the speedo and tach.
