Last thing... What kind of puller did you rent and from where? I was reading a few other how to's on this and a lot of them said the puller bolt wasn't long enough so they had to put a socket or something at the end..

Seems everyone has used the 3 jaw puller. I just rented one for free from autozone. I believe you put a 1" socket on the end of the bolt backwards to push against the crank.

Was it just called the 3 jaw puller or was it car model specific?

It's a 5 ton 2/3 jaw puller

My mechanic who is going to do the the install suggested just using A spare crank bolt to install the new damper. Any reason why this wont work instead of making an installer out of threaded rod?

What is the torque procedure for the ARP Crank Bolt?

The crank damper bolt is not long enough to use for the install. It will not work.

The arp is 240ftlbs. The damper has to be pressed on, a crank bolt won't do that.

Bad idea because even if the bolt was long enough (most are not ) you could only get it started with two threads and then you would ruin the threads. Make/buy an installer.

I made my installer out of M16 x2 threaded rod today. Just nuts and washers, no bearing.

I have enough threaded rod left over to make 2 more if anybody is interested and can't find it local. Just PM me, Paypal me $ for shipping and I'll send it to you. You will need the nuts and washer though but they are easy to find. I guess I could get these for you too, just Paypal me a few extra $. I have no use for the extra 24" of rod laying around.

How long was the rod you used?

Shrek 08-11-2014 07:31 PM

10" worked perfectly

I made it 11 inches. Always good to be a little longer than required. Hint hint
