Just ordered the PDIM unit and steering wheel controls. Can't wait to install into car. However, I am a female that never has done any of this before. I will be following the step by step instructions posted on this site. Will let everyone know how things turn out.

**UPDATE****

I have learned that if your PDIM stops working, you DO NOT need to disconnect the battery at all!

all you have to do is pull out (F13) fuse labeled "DISPLY 10A" on the side fuse box by the driver side. This will reset the radio.

As per the shop manual, the fuses description is as follows:

T11 Multimedia Player Interface Module (USR), A20 Radio/HVAC Controls

My USB port stopped working, the radio showed "NO DEVICE FOUND" and then I unplugged the USB flash drive and tried to plug it in again, but nothing happened. I also tried to plug the "AUX" cable in and...nothing.

After a quick Fuse pull, everything worked again. I hope this helps, I started hating disconnecting the battery all the time it quit working.

17. Perform the radio calibration upgrade. This will allow the radio to recognise the PDIM. This is required on all vehicles that have not had the PDIM installed before.

18. Perform a PDIM calibration upgrade. This will ensure the PDIM has the latest level of software available.

So "17" Is getting it sent from GM?

And... "18" Is performed by the service technician?

Just asking because I just had to leave my car overnight because the technician was mentally challenged. Even after giving him the instructions he tried to blame wiring of course although I pointed out I had power. Then he went on to say that the tech he talked to for what I believe was 17 in the instructions wasnt required..... READING COMPREHENSION..... Jesus where do they hire these people from!?

What comes in the package? Just a new harness?? Do you have to cut into the center console for the port?

PDIM accessory kit comes with the following

No cutting is necessary, there is a replacement plug that has the USB port and AUX in.

You plug the harness into the disconnect that is on the passenger side of the console. Nothing new needs to be plugged into the back of the radio. You can review the install instructions here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...9&d=1254768031

Ok just installed mine. Very straight forward. Hardest part was trying to do it in 10 degree weather in a garage with no lights :0

I'm gonna get my radio programed soon hopefully.

Controls alone do not do anything for you. You need some method to hook the phone/music player to the car. The PDIM is what adds the usb port. There is also a way to add bluetooth but I havent done that one.
