Track Insurance

Do you use track insurance? If so, what vendor?

Here is one I have used...

http://locktonmotorsports.com/insurance/

It's not cheap, but better than having a $40k wad of scrap metal

Orange Crush 1LE 03-11-2014 12:53 AM

Me too, Lockton every time.

umiami2312 03-11-2014 01:09 AM

I just signed up for my first HPDE and i think this is a good idea to get. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

CHMSC 03-11-2014 01:23 AM

Lockton is good. I have used them and know of others who unfortunately had to make a claim and they didn't give them a hassle.

CrystalRedTintcoat 03-11-2014 01:24 AM

Thank you.

One question- does anyone know with certainty if Lockton covers damage that is less than a total loss? Say you brush a wall and have $10k in damage, but the car is clearly not totaled. Will they pay to fix it, less the deductible of course?

toehead93 03-11-2014 08:38 AM

I believe that is the case. I have used them as well, there are others but they all go through the same underwriter so they have almost the same prices and Coverage. You can get coverage for one event or multiple events which will cost less per event.

What are you paying on average?

I put in single day HPDE event, $35K, 10% deductible, and Instructor....It came up with $206 for an event in Cali (none of my events were listed)

Thanks,
Matt

That's about right. I paid $327 for a $49K value

Print out all of the legal documents they give you and take it to the track with you.

I did about the same coverage, and mine was around that as well.

RazorLED 03-11-2014 06:10 PM

Mine is covered under my Geico policy. My policy states as long as its not "road/street racing" and its on a racetrack it's covered.

It does not cover a dedicated race car though. It covers track days.

KRich2587 03-11-2014 10:51 PM

I just called geico and they said the same as long as its not racing which an hpde isn't its covered!
