Cost to replace would prob be like 400 at a dealer.

Part can be bought for 80 or so but dealer will charge much more and it's labor intensive.

I have had a noise like this for months now. Two dealerships have been unable to detect it, as apparently they have mixed luck in recreating it.

Some potential differences:

1- My noise goes away after car has been driving for 5-10 minutes
2- Also happens when the AC is off from the start

Number 2 makes me think it's a different problem. Anyone somehow have this noise even when AC if off?

Thanks

Had mine replaced. They had to cut the original one out. The dealer said that they are getting a lot of complaints from owners and are replacing them two to three times. Once they are replaced the first time, they said it is easier to replace again so it is no longer a several hour event. I put silicone sealer around the edge of the cabin filter to help better seal the area to prevent a re-occurrence of the sound that might be due to contaminants. It could also be a bad batch of blower motors. Anyone know if the manufacturer of the fan changed?

For what its worth, I wanted to eyeball the fan so I removed the cabin air filter (I have about 24k miles and it was pretty dirty).

While there I didn't notice any debris but did move the vent door up and down a few times. I installed a new filter too.

Since the install, 3 days now, I've had no squeak. Hoping I got lucky.

Just had mine replaced. They had to drill the old one out.

I've had the same noise as described above, my difference is i can replicate it at will & my service rep keeps telling me that is normal and chevy won't replace. My extended warranty is due to expire in about 4k miles. I'm more than annoyed with this but what can I do? My ultimate nemesis is squeaks and rattles in regards to a car , so this is just divine new insane. Side note they did replace the same part about 4 years ago without hesitation.

You have to wonder if the 2016s will use the same part.

Normal...unreal. Did they really say a squeaky fan is normal?

Mine does this but only in the cooler months. It just started again this year. I thought it was when the heat was on but I could not get it to make that noise at all this summer with the heat on. It does it everyday now. I'm used to it. Mine is not that loud.

That and added "is really not all that bad, best to just try to ignore it" as if a distracting sound can be easily ignored.
Planning on going back and trying to get to the manager for an escalation and with luck, resolution.

FYI, replacement VDO fan only lasted a year before squeaking. Confirmed it's the brushes, not bearing(s). Guess I'm not sure it's worth replacing with a new one versus opening up existing one and cleaning up commutator and brushes, unless you'd just like to have a spare (which isn't a bad idea, I just swapped mine easily instead of working on existing one and driving w/o fan).
