Procharger P1SC-1 belt slip
My buddy has a Redline-Motorsports 416, P1SC-1, E85, Exhaust, Holley Hi-Ram.
We hit the local Dyno-Jet the other day, and he kept shredding/throwing belts. I'm not sure of his pulley combo, but I know it's near max rpm for the little P1. His first pull it made 750whp and only had 6 ribs on the 8 rib belt. Second run it threw the belt, but was on course to make 800. On his tuners dyno, he made 830whp. He has the standard type Procharger tensioner that pushes down on the horizontal portion of the belt. The belt he had on was really hard to get back on. We had to get it started on the SC pulley, and bump the starter to spin it on fully. Then he cranked it down with the tensioner. In my opinion, his belt is too short, and his tensioner is set too tight. Is this a common issue for Prochargers? What are his options? |
It happened on Derek Bieri's (Vice Grip Garage) Independence Chevelle at Freedom Works burnout contest. :noidea:

Just go 12 rib, buy the ATI damper and 12 rib kit from Brutespeed (call and talk to Bob) I am maxing out / slightly over-spinning a F1-A procharger with a 12 rib ZERO belt slip.
