M6 to Auto
Has anyone on here converted there m6 to a auto looking for feed back on which auto you went with the cost and the difficulty in doing it, looking at the 4l60e or a turbo 400, also I am at 732rwhp if that matters much? Thanks you all in advance.

I’ve thought about it there just isn’t a lot of info ☹️

I spoke with a shop foreman at a local dealer and he has a customer modified m6-auto swap that they have been working on for months and after speaking to him frankly I would advise against this too much electronics involved! I think would be better option would be to get an auto car and swap engines& or parts you have already modded

Doing a 4L80e or a 400 are not difficult at all. There is a company out of Indiana that sells a complete kit to convert a M6 to a 4L80e. It only a matter of time before I convert mine over.

whats their name?

Contact Vengeance Racing in Georgia. They have done (3) high HP M6 to TH400 swaps in the past year. All three are now high 9, low 9, and one 8 sec ZL1 I believe.
I personally would never do it. You now have a dedicated drag car IMO with a TH400. You can play with transmission and rear end gear ratios for the 1/2 mile. Then swap them out again for the 1/4 mile. Low cost and high strength swap option is TH400 hands down. VR can probably do what ever you desire and make it work with 4l80E. I’m sure the price difference is significant vs TH400. |
Look up CamaroGirl5. She swapped hers recently.

4l60 is a pos never even consider that

I hope I’m not violated any rules by posting this. I have no affiliation with them nor any personal experience with them. I was referred to them.
http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/page12.html They offer several options. 4L80, TH400 or powerglide |

I looked into doing the swap and the expense is well over $10,000 to install a 6L90 and work exactly like it came that way without any cobbling. so I traded for an identical car with 1000's less miles and perfect condition for a couple $1000. Then swapped my LSX427 from one car to the other and had the turbos installed. 2 years and 20,000 miles later, I couldn't be happier and I'm still on the original transmission at 30,000 miles. These 6l90's are nearly bullet proof. I wanted the car to drive like stock and still race it a few times a year, a th400 would limit that dramatically. All depends on what you want to do with the car in the end. I drive mine a lot!! Good luck

Im currently doing a 4l80 swap. Picked up a barely used Jakes stage 3. Still have to purchase other things like standalone computer, shifter, flexplate, driveshaft, trans cooler, and torque converter. In the end I'll have about $5-6000 in it.
