ok, so that title might be a bit much....I have decided to lower hotrod and its down to BMR (assuming they are back to selling early v6 springs) or Hotchkis....I plan on going with a 1" drop and would like some feedback from people on the ride quality and any problems anyone has had with either brand......and one last bit....I live near st louis and could use a recommondation for a great shop that knows how to do the install and time the bushings...thanks :thumbup:

There are lots of threads on lowering springs. I"d suggest you search them and see what others have to say about them. There are also several threads with LOTS of pics. Since ride quality is very subjective, the only real way to compare them is to take a ride in a car with them installed. I have done that for a few people around me and all have bought the ones I have. Just a suggestion, i'd get a set of springs that drops a little lower than 1in. The V6 typically sits higher than the V8 so you won't have the same lowered look. It may just be that the wheels are smaller but either way, it doesn't look lowered unless you drop it more. As far as shops, I don't live near you so I can't help. I will say that most GOOD tire shops should be able to do it. It's not that hard and many on here do it themselves. Just be sure that they're not going to rape you on labor as that's all they'll be providing. You're looking at ~2-3hrs labor plus a alignment. That shouldn't be more than $300-350.

You could post your shop question in your regional forum. Surely someone near you is on here and has some recommendations.

thanks axis for letting me know about about the regional section...otherwise I know there a bunch of trends on here but i was looking for more recent since bmr stopped sellign for v6 for a bit due to a shock difference. I was hoping for a followup from some members as well to see if this problem was solved or was a problem at all....as well, i more than likely will go with more than a 1" drop since you make a good point about the v6 sitting a bit higher than the 8.

There definitely is an issue with the V8 and V6 shocks being different. The V6 shocks seem to be the same part number as the V8, and even show up as the same replacement part number according to the dealers we've called, but there definitely is a difference between cars as they come from the factory. A solution is being worked on for V6 equipped cars as we speak, but for right now we've stopped selling V6 springs because of the change.

We've done some work with CBI Street Cars in Florissant in the past and they do good work. You might want to give those guys a call. Their number is 314-479-7799.

We have been installing the Pedders coil springs on the v6 cars with no problems,but the Pedders springs are a hot wound spring unlike many of the drop springs sold by others.Here is a link of Pedders factory making there own springs.http://www.peddersusa.com/products/10

so my car is a very early v6...what would be the difference between it and the current v6's currently being sold?

I had eibachs installed last week and love them. just got a bad creek on the passenger front yesterday. Trying to figure out what that is but love them so far. If your on a budget, go for eibachs, if not go with Pfadt. Altough they stopped selling v6 springs now, I have never heard a complaint or problem with any pfadts users

yours is a 2010, the new ones are 2011

I don't believe there is a difference in regard to the struts.

Some of the 2011's are coming with different sub frame bushings, but most of the changes will not happen until the 2012 model year.

ok so hopefully if/when i get my drop springs I wont have any problems with the install as long as I let them know when ordering that ive got a v6...:thumbup:

Having checked with our GM sources we can conform that Pedders lowering coils will fit both the V8 and V6.

coil overs or lowering springs---or is this some crazy hybrid (im thinking its not)

Pedders lowering coils are a direct bolt up for both the 6 and 8. Our coilovers are as well. These are the 220032 front and 220033 rears on a 6.
