DIY part # for ABL (Pictures of Installation included!!!)

To do the ABL on your dash this is what you need to Buy.

1 From gm you need to buy 3 lights in the color you need.

The part # for the blue lighting is 92238395

The part # for the orange lighting is #92228416 (it is red)

And the light tube is from Me.

And one last part GM removed the connectors on all cars, 2010up past the VIN 9160000 so if you have that number you will need to t-tap or get a harness that is plug and play

This is It

Ok "Tag", You know i need sleep at 12:14 PM i was dreaming of LSX 454 and a cam making 650 RWHP in my Camaro. LOL

So This is the hard part The work Go to your car and pull the side cover over on the drivers side see pics

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

And pull it out gently you will fell it pop out it is held in by some snap clips (all the parts are held in that way ) More pics

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

Next you will see the connector on the drivers side, In this pic i have the connector in red and the outer end on, See pic.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

Next you remove the speedometer off so lats do that, More snap clips to remove from the top pop off Gently and first move the wheel out and down Pics.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

And more

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

And now pull up on the trim, If i can do it with my fat hands you can do it.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250830

This is the back side for you to see.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250896

Now there is 4 screws that you will remove to get the speedometer out the way, And as you can see there is 2 alignment pins over the 2 bottom screws so you can not do it wrong.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252250896

And this side.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

Now to remove the speedometer, First you do NOT need to remove the wires on the speedometer, In this pic you will see that i put a red line on the pic that is where you need to pull up on the dash so you can tilt the speedometer forwarder to get it out see pics.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

And this pic.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

More pics for you

And to keep going i needed some time.

Now that we removed the speedometer from the dash it all there for us to do.

Next we need to find the 2nd connector and it is in front of you in the center of the wires behind the speedometer look at this 2 pics.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

And this.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

One more for fun.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251006

Now that we know that wear the two connector are we need to pull the dash trim off, As before be gentle More snap clips see pics, Start at the ends of the dash.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

And pull, Ups my fat hand in the pics.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

This is the long side so lots of clips on the drivers side there is only 2 clips.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

Next is the hard part to drill in your dash, Do not worry if you do it right you will not see it, So do it right.

If you are not happy and do not get it P.M. me, And we can see if i can help, Now i do have a job so give me some time to help you, And if I do help you out, See if you can help some one who needs it.

You can see that there is a small triangle spot at the end of the dash on the 2 sides of the dash that is wear you drill, at the top and out as far as you can go, see pics.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1252251117

Can you help me out on that as i have not had a look at a 1 lt/1ss in the door do you have the same plastic panel in the door and dash ?, Post some pics for me.

Primus 09-04-2009 02:41 PM

we do not have plastic panels. Ours are a kind of cloth. We would need to buy replacement panels for the doors and dash.

Tecca 09-04-2009 04:30 PM

As Primus said the 1LT and 1LS guys will have to buy the whole new door panel. They run $250 each side plus s/h. Then you will also have to run the wiring as it isn't included either.

I just ordered the parts and will do a complete write up with pictures and detailed instructions when the parts come in. Looking forward to getting this done the way I think it should have been done for ALL the Camaros!

There are trim kits that are in the works for you 1LT & 1SS guys (and anyone looking to change color with a 2LT or 2 SS) that include both acrylic door panel inserts and both dash inserts, however you will need to add light tubes to the doors also to your 1 LT or 1SS. They are shown on gmparts direct for $327 for the kit, but not yet available
92221433 for Yellow
92221438 for Orange
92233738 for White
92233739 for Silver
Keep the faith
