Wheel Lugs grrrrrrrr

So tried to get my wheels off using a 24mm socket, then a 22mm, neither worked, I so figured 23mm (of course I didn’t have one). Went to auto zone and got one and came back and still doesn’t fit all that great, somewhat wiggles. I tried to crank the lug off anyway and it just kept skipping. I didn’t keep trying long because I didn’t want to round out the lugs.

Any ideas or am I doing something completely wrong? I’ve never had these tires off and this is getting ridiculous.

22.5mm.

Seriously? Why would Chevy do that....thank you!

22mm works on mine.

So I got 7/8” and even tried 13/16”. The 7/8” is slipping just the same as 23cm. I’m pretty these lugs have caps on them. Their seems to be absolutely no grip to them. Any ideas?

Ask the Canadians.

22mm is what I use. 7/8" fits as well. If the caps are spinning then you'll have to take a pair of pliers and pull them off. Then use a smaller socket to remove the lug nuts. You'll of course have to buy new lug nuts. Whatever you do don't buy the cheap junk that your local part stores carry.

Pound a lil smaller socket on there you will get it off then have to hit the side of socket with it resting on ground and the lug will pop out of the socket its a pain in the ass but it works the lug starts to rust between chrome skin and changes size then crack i live in ny and deal with tons of salt so everything gets never seize o if the chrome cap pops off 3/4 usually works

I finally got them off to realize I think the main issue was because they were stripped to hell. That's what I ended up doing Nb1081, just pound the socket on the lug. Going to buy new lugs today.

Replaced all my lugs with solid chrome ones after taking off my wheels the first time. Capped lugs suck

The first time I tried to change my brake pads, it was a nightmare specifically because of this. It turned a 20-30 minute project into a day long event.

I replaced the old rounded 22.5mm with some nice non-rounded-corner 23mm that I can zap right off in a flash now.
