2015 1LE 6spd 1st and 2nd gear bog in the MM6

Hey all,
I searched for a good while to see if there happened to of been a transmission post. Sorry if i missed it and this has been discussed before.

I noticed in this car 1st and 2nd are not as snappy as other 5spd and 6spd i have driven. But my 3rd gear is like i am running on boost. Just 1st-2nd feel like torque management is on hard core.

So my question, Is this normal for these setups because its mainly for tracking autocross and road courses?
I will be building it more for doing road courses no straight line racing. But i had to do a couple pulls against the Gf's 2015 gt and was a little concerned with the lack in the first gears.

Mine runs strong in all gears.

Haven't noticed that on mine either.

How bad did she gap you? Lol

DarkMaro1le 07-24-2019 08:31 PM

HA! ok honestly off the line a whole car.. It feels like boost lag till about 3200rpm in 2nd. Granted shes an auto with some work done. But rolling she gets left. Especially top end.

Odd yours is doing that. Mine pulls hard and is really torquey in all gears . I always feel like I’m holding the car back in city driving or stop and go traffic. Mine is very snappy in first and second and up but 1-2 really snappy even before I did any mods.

Try doing the fuse pull trick to reset the fuel tables. I’m thinking someone put crap low
end gas in there before you bought the car. Easy to do and may fix ya! Look it up on here there’s a few write ups on it. Basically you’ll pull 2 fuses and let it sit overnight then put them back in. It will reset the fuel tables. You should run a premium non ethanol fuel in the car.
If the car is still stock tuned get a tune to the ecu certainly will make a major difference also. But give the fuse pull trick a shot first.

It's been several years since I owned it, but I don't ever remember my '15 1SS/1LE bogging down getting off from a start. Strange :noidea:

I wouldn't say it was a hard bog in mine, but I did notice a world of difference after I got mine tuned.

First gear in our cars is somewhat long and peak torque out of the LS3 comes at 4600 RPM. So while this thing does have a great mid-range, it's bottom end isn't exactly Cummins-like. If you bog off the line, you're screwed.

When I'm auto-crossing I'm typically putting the tach between 2500 and 3-grand, slipping the clutch aggressively while pushing the throttle through the firewall, and am fighting wheel-spin all the way through first until I grab second at while point I'm usually at full lateral load and trying not to put orange marks on my paint.

My recently acquired '15 1LE feels like a rocket in 1st and 2nd, but as Billy said you gotta keep the revs up.

Thanks for all the advice and input. I’ve been running good premium in it and have a 91 octane tune. It was doing it before the tune. Even went back to stock to make sure.

I will be tracking it so I know it won’t matter as much in those low gears 3rd and up are very aggressive. but I just wanted to reach out and see if it was common. I’ll throw my scanner on it tonight and data log my fuel trims. Other than that I’m loving the car and excited about upcoming event at PBIR.

I'm just throwing this out there, but are you by chance spinning through 1-2 and activating the traction control?
