Just curious....
10K is wayyyyyy off. There is a lot of accounting going on relative to investment, overhead etc. The basics start with the basic costs - material and labor. You start adding on top for engineering and amortized investment costs on top of that.

Do you mean invoice or MSRP? Invoice is what GM gets paid for the car....less some costs etc. that I can't quote.

So let me ask about an already established model....Impala? Malibu? etc. What is the average clear profit GM makes per car?
That would be millions. And sorry, won't tell you specifics, but it clearly depends on the car. Big difference between a Cobalt and an Impala for example and both are high volume cars.

Not only this, but I am sure they spent over $100 million to develop, engineer, test and build just this single model. So with that in mind - I am sure that any profit that is seen by GM is factored out based on forward facing sales figures. Initially and for long to come I am sure that the actual realized profit is $0.00 per car.
Thanks for correcting that.

But it IS stress free, and I enjoy it....and I love the vette and camaro - so I am living a SECOND childhood. I love the reaction of people picking up their Camaro's, and making friends in MANY of the states in the USA!

Yea, I know, I'm not normal!!!
Good for you, Scotty. It is good to love your job. That alone can make up for salary..........................sometimes.

i dont know how exact this is but he was giving 'round' figures
That would be ball park for the parts and labor. Not even close when you factor in the investment dollars.

If you factor those in, they wont be profitable on the Camaro for a while. As for the dealer profit, that shouldn't be too hard to figure out. For their sake I hope it's a good profit. I get depressed every time I drive by ghost-town dealers these days.
Reasonable thoughts there.

But to the OP, if GM made $10,000 per car x 100,000 Camaros (likely for 2010 MY) that would be $1,000,000,000 right there. And keep in mind GM NA operations hasn't really made that much all in for much of the last 10 years.
