Forgive me if the next few posts overlap or even seem like I'm working backwards, its just how parts are coming in and how I took my photos. After the manifold removal I decided to tackle one side at a time. Passenger side first as there is far less harness to deal with.
First I unbolted the harness from the block and started cleaning. Most of the injector harness electrical tape was crispy and unraveling but the loom was ok. I gave it the same treatment as the front headlight harness and retaped most of it. Also cleaned the trans and oil dipsticks, tubes as well. Some of the firewall got cleaned by accident.
Next I started the painstaking task of cleaning 25 years of grime off the passenger side head. Razor blades, engine degreaser, shop towels and hours of scrubbing brought it to a respectable clean. I worked my way around the back of the block, removed the factory ground strap, replicated it's design with my 0 gauge OFC wire and have it waiting to be installed.
I made the decision to pull the valley cover due to the insane amount of oil seepage. Which meant pulling the coolant crossover tube which I cleaned up (believe or not) and procured replacement seals for.
