If you're expecting to produce 25000 V8's, you'll need 200,000 piston heads. If GM required the order be 30-40% front loaded, the unit cost would be higher as the manufacturer would have additional costs during the 'artificially high' production period.

We are 4 months from the start of production. Does anyone else think that they could use the pre-order information to pass along to suppliers in order for them to meet the expected early demand? It would be different if ordering started in January or February, but we are talking 4 extra months of supply chain preparation here.
