Good thing I have 25+ years to retirement, I refuse to look at my 401k statements.

I've heard it said that these kinds of woahs always come around election time (although, I don't think it's even truly been like this) so I'm sure, like has been posted already, that it'll turn around in several months. Just give it a little time; everyone can get their Camaros

I doubt that less people are interested in the Cam'. Besides when anybody who ordered the high end SS get to the dealer and don't have their $5k or more down, and take a hard look at that contract that says$500-550 for 72 months(with good-- not exceptional credit)not to mention your increase in INSURANCE, YOU WILL consider that LT maybe even the LS. I would love to have all that power of the SS but at the cost of an extra 70-80 payment , increase in insurance and property taxes for the engine, not to mention that extra 3 more miles per gallon tank on a 19 gallon tank(56-60 extra miles which equates to an extra day or 2 driving to work) then all of sudden my enthusiasm turns into realism.

LT2 for me & i loooooooooooove Camaros.

If you are a real Camaro enthusiast, then you know this car has been in the works for years. And if you knew that and you knew you were going to want one, you should have been socking away money to prepare. Then, you can order your 2SS and still have a reasonable payment. Shame on you who didn't...

The manufacturer of those piston heads will look at the expected total and BUDGET and build to meet the defined anticipated delivery schedule. If GM required the order be 30-40% front loaded, the unit cost would be higher as the manufacturer would have additional costs during the 'artificially high' production period.

But I'm just guessing...and I've been wrong more than a few times.
We are 4 months from the start of production. Does anyone else think that they could use the pre-order information to pass along to suppliers in order for them to meet the expected early demand? It would be different if ordering started in January or February, but we are talking 4 extra months of supply chain preparation here.

Reminder: a 401k is for retirement, not buying a car, if you could even withdraw the $ for that purpose. So I don't understand why a depreciated plan would make anyone back out of buying a Gen5. Of course, mama saying I had to might go pretty far with me too, but the 401k is a lousy reason, man!

Dude, how old are you 19,20?

A 401k way more important than a Camaro. . Your logic here is. . . well who cares if you lost 122k on your retirement plan. . . go a head and spend 30+k on a Camaro and worry about your retirement money when it runs out. . .

Sorry to hear about your retirement hardships. . . Good luck

The person now has to make up what he's lost in the market via other forms of saving or by increasing his 401K allocation would be my guess.

I have lost about that much also, and I'm going to increase my 401K allotment which in turn means my camaro allotment is now gone

A question for GM execs... Will V8s run out?

I know this is highly unlikely I'm waiting a year for Z28 news before I go out and get my Camaro. However, is there a possiblity that the V8s will run out. In other words there is production max. I'm sure this trend will continue. Is there a chance?

There is always a production limit for everything, from V8 engines to paperclips. Question is, what is that limit? The LS3, and presumably L99 as well, were designed to be simplier to produce than the LS2 was, making mass production more feasible. But the Camaro will likely double the demand for these engines and that would probably put capacity close to its maximum.

I know this has been thrown around alot, but what are my odds of getting SS if I pre order now. A quote from the dealer himself said the SS may take a little longer. Any idea what kind of time frame I am looking at?

I don't think anyone could take a guess on that. It's still months before production actually begins and any number of things could change. It's already been stated not to panic though, so don't You'll get yourself all worked-up over nothing, and there will be nothing you can do about it, so I'd just suggest to sit back and relax. Camaro will come in due time.
