I'll take the paper thin aluminum trim any day of the week over silver painted plastic trying to imitate the real thing. Subtle differences like this have a lot to do with perceived material quality and interior design IMO, and that was the point I was trying to make.

Sure. But you hit the nail on the head by saying "percieved"...I guess I just need to accept that perception is reality in this market.
