Don't know why the pic of the dinosaur was included except maybe as proof that GM used to make a 3.8? But if you actually read his post and not just look at the pretty pictures, he's only wondering why GM doesn't have a new 3.8. It would make much more sense for GM to increase the displacement of it's current 3.6 design (provided the block can handle the increase) than to totally redesign an old engine.
Also, the only way to increase horsepower is to increase the torque at any given RPM. HP=torque*RPM/5252. Torque=force*distance. So bored (more force) or stroked (more distance), the engine would still make more of both. Now that the '11 Mustang V6 is here, GM may just increase the V6 displacement (PLEASE) to make up for the Camaro's extra weight.
