If you turn your a/c on max when you first get in your car it will take a longer time to cool down. "MAX" means the system is recycling interior air. "MAX" doesn't make the a/c work any harder. The air temp outside your car could be 90, but inside could be 130 degrees! That is the air you are trying to cool when set on MAX. Next time, try to open both windows and flush out all that super heated air and then see how fast your car cools off!
