Long Tubes mean relocating the cats in most cases...and that effects emissions...even with a tune - it'd be difficult to meet federal requirements. That's one of the reasons even Ford stopped at shorties for the 5.0L engine.

I'd be interested to research what the overall ratios are...rear-end only tells the story when all else is equal.
