Would not go any hotter than what the factory recommends. Recipie for voided warranty and engine damage. Do agree, unless youre modding it, stick with what the factory puts in there, the ignition system on geniii/iv motors is more than adequate from the factory.
If you are modding, lots of ls1 guys are running ngk tr55's. Only problem is they burn out within 10k-15k miles, so you need to pull a couple to check regularly. General rule of thumb is if you add forced induction, or n/a about 100hp over stock, you need to move down a heat range to a cooler plug.
