Well... we added a new mate to the stable. Not a fun one but a well needed one. After 251,000 miles we have decided to replace the old Civic. The ac went out, tried to recharge it but made it worse... it needs new tires soon so hate to replace them with it on thin ice... the exhaust is falling off again and I hate sounding like a fart can car... the tranny has been slipping... the inside stinks like mildew from getting wet and having a wet dog in it... plus we were just freakin tired of driving it. We did keep it but not sure what we are going to do with it.... keep it, sell it or give it away... I think we are going to take a stab at selling it but what the hell could we get for it... $1000... $1500

We looked at a 2011 Honda Fit, 2012 Honda Civic, 2012 Focus hatch, 2011 Cruze, 2011 Golf...

My favorite was the Golf but the added cost and the reduced mileage couldn't top this:

2012 Civic EX

I know its not the Cruze like I thought I'd end up with but cost vs mileage and the freakin reputation... its hard to beat. I added the 6 year 120K warranty which will last me about 4 years but it is chalk full of gizmos and gadgets. Kris loves it. She drove it home while I stuck it out in old blue with no ac, and defrost that doest work... Unloaded the work stuff from the ole' girl and parked her in the yard. I haven't driven the new one yet. We test drove a hidious light blue one with tan interior. When I saw the black with grey interior, I didn't need to look anymore. Sunroof, alloy wheels, bluetooth, all kinds of crap the 98 didn't have.

Only planned mod is some mildly tinted windows. Just enough to keep it cool inside.
I may not be drooling over it, but hey, a new ride is a new ride, and those civics are actually pretty nice!!

minus the tranny slipping, I would have told you I was interested in your old one!

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)
