I would never say that GM would make it easy to replace spark plugs because I've worked on LT1 and LS1 4th gens, but I can promise you that the V8 will fit in there... that shroud covers ALOT more of the engine bay than the actual engine takes up... it is, in fact, designed to cover most of the engine bay to give it a full, well fit look instead of the way the LS1 looked in the engine bay of the 4th gens... where it was all uncovered and you wondered why they didn't put something over it to cover up the coil packs, AIR system and other misc. BS.
if you look at the engine cover, you'll see that you cannot see the throttle body, or even where the air intake fits up against the throttle body, so there's alot of the engine bay covered by the engine shroud.
