Thanks Rodrunner. No, I was not trying to suggest that I am above anyone because I am an engineer. I was simply trying to reinforce, my means of association, that this probably was not an engineering solution, but rather a work around that was forced out the door by management. Similar situations have happened to me countless times.
Stereotypically, engineers tend to care about precision, accuracy, and thoroughness while management tends to weigh schedule, budget, and engineering equally. Temporary “proof of concept” fixes making it out the door are sometimes the result.
