My question is regarding seat belts.
I understand that this is a 4 seater and NOT a 5 seater. I'm sure I'm one of the 5% who might ever even think to bring this up. I'm sure this is is not even remotely possible, but I figured I'd ask just to gather feedback.
Is there a possiblity that the back seat could ever seat 3? meaning, could a 3rd middle seatbelt be fabricated into the model? i don't even care if they have to sit on that little hump back there! (although i know there are safety regulations behind these sorts of things) I ask because I'm a family man, and well...I have kids. Ages 8, 6, 4. So since the average family has 2.5 children...I think (again the 5%) it would appeal even more to the average family guy, who wants a sporty ride, but can still fit his family in it. But hey..where I have 3...the next guy might have 2.
I'd love to be able to have the 3 kids squeeze into the back, and my wife and I up front, and take the family out for a fun sporty spin. Not that the scenario is common of course, but it would be nice to have that option. I have a 1st gen Dodge Neon that I've had for years as my econobox and daily driver, (which I've enjoyed modding), and I bought my wife an '03 Tahoe...since she's primarily responsible for truckin around the little ones. My kids have a huge love for my lil neon, since i've ramped it up, and they always enjoy taking a ride in 'daddy's car'. The best case scenario I have with the Camaro, is just me and the three kids, and my wife will have to ride on the roof or i pack the littlest one in the trunk. (i kid i kid).
I bring this up because I've been in the market for a new car, a sports car mind you, and i've restricted myself to getting a car that has at minimum 4 seats. At the top of my list was the 350z (which i nixed because it's only a 2 seater), and then the infiniti G35 coupe (which I nixed because of the new camaro). i'm dead set on getting the Camaro regardless. i love our tahoe (although that 14mpg is a killer), and really can't wait to have another chevy in my driveway. I'd much rather have american made sitting in my driveway over an import, primarily because parts tend to be less expensive, and I like to save money and do a lot of the repairs myself. the 'stang was my only viable domestic option until now. I'd take an old 67' stang, and I don't mind the new ones...but they're just not my style. the new camaro IS...and i'm happily holding out on getting a new car until it's finally here!
And FBod...if you happen to be reading this, I'd like to commend you and the GM team for such a well thought out plan. I know the execution will be superb when it's finally done. I haven't cared for the Camaro much since the mid 80's (hence the username...l0l)... but this new beauty has renewed my interest in the Camaro. Not only are you all getting the approvals from us new and re-newed fans (i'm 28), but even the older muscle car guys (who aren't impressed much unless is from the 70s or 60s), are drooling over this car. I showed my wife's grandfather, who has 2 '63 Split window vette's, and even a C5 as well. He's one of those that isn't impressed by anything unless it's a 'vette...and even he was thoroughly impressed by the new camaro. I have a 1:18 scale version of the concept that I showed him. I left the room, and when I came back, he had taken it downstairs to show his son, (my wife's uncle who use to have a '69)...and he loved it too! That's a least 3 generations of men that say you guys have gotten this thing right! and if you include my two sons...that's 4 generations! My boys drool when they watch transformers and know that daddy will have bumble bee in the driveway soon! They can't wait to get in it!
...i know i'll get laughed at...because there will be those that say, if you want to cart your family around in something...look elsewhere, this is a sports car!
But I'm just dreaming...and wanted to know if it's even remotely possible.
