Yeah, I know what you mean...... Remember that Edison guy? That whole light bulb thing was a complete disaster. Should have just stuck with the good old reliable oil lamps.
I know what you are getting at, but it's the inevitable process of human evolution. Would you rather your brand spankin new 2010 Camaro Z28 that was pretty much designed on a computer have a 4 bbl carburated 396 with iron block and heads or a modern, all aluminum LS3? Can't beat old fashioned hydraulic lifters. And that distributor ignition is sooo much better than computer controlled coil packs. NEVER have to change those. I mean, you could get a good 15-18 MPG out of that engine with the aerodynamics of the 2010 Camaro! With hardly any emissions (when it's not running). The extra weight of all that solid iron helps keep the car on the ground so you don't get airborn when you hit the gas.
Edit: Sorry Scott, there I go mixing cubic inches with engine codes........ wait a minute.......
That's
GM'S fault - raising all us kids up on denoting your engines first by cubic inches, then 20 years later you denote them by liters, and now there's some letters thrown into the soup. All for the same displacement. No wonder my generation is so confused.
