If you have over 20k miles with out a properly functioning catchcan your intake valves could be coked with deposits to the point you dont notice much:

If thats the case, you wont notice much as the volumetric effeciency of of the intak ports and valve design has been so compromised. An upper induction cleaning service can help, but wont fix it completely.
