Does anyone know the pounds of torque these engines offer. A heavy car does require a degree of torque to come out of the 'hole' and then letting horsepower take over. I enjoyed the small blocks of Gen 1 Camaro's but was totally blown away with the torque of a 396. I drive a V6 Chrysler 300 and for the first three gears when manually shifted the car pulls well. I see on one post that car weighed 4,200 lbs. That is a lot of weight to place in motion for a 250 HP V6. I wonder how well the suggested 4 cylinder would do?
Transmission gearing and rear end ratio is key. In daily street performance I would take a motor with a lot of torque and gearing to keep Mustangs corraled and Challengers challenged.
Your thoughts.
