If you go to the Meguiars website, they have a numerical step process you can follow which may help your system. They tell you what product to use in what step based upon their numerical number. Plus you can get their stuff from your local auto store and it doesn't cost a fortune.

Step 1 Wash

Step 2 Clay

Step 2 Compound

Step 3 Polish

Step 4 Wax

Step 5 Maintain
While they may seem cheaper, they are in fact more expensive than many other better products. Their ultimate line is their top tier enthusiast line and is ok at best. Ultimate compound/polish leaves a LOT be desired. Yes they will work but you have to work it A LOT to get good results. That means it's costing you more product, along with more time and energy. Thinking about a long couple of days of polishing my car isn't how I want to blow my weekend. Better polishing compounds like FG400 will do the same job in less than half the time. Yes, it really is that good. Their detail spray is quite expensive when you compare the price to the good stuff by the gallon. Their paste wax isn't too bad but it's longevity is the pits. That means you have to wax it more often which again is more product, time, and energy. Their wash I actually like.

This pertains to their ultimate line. They have a professional line that has some good polishes in it. M105 and 205 use to be the standard but now there are very good alternatives that do the job just as good, if not better, and safer. Their professional line is also priced about the same as others.
