Think of it this way. Air is denser at lower altitudes or cooler temperatures. Denser air contains more O2 per volume and allows you to burn more fuel (= more power). Higher pressure is basically the same thing (more O2 = more power). Other things like humidity have an affect on how fuel ignites. The DA is a formula that trys to adjust your ET/Trap to what it would be if you ran at standard temperature and pressure.
