Just depends on how high you are in elevation, so yeah Vegas is up there in elevation. Then add in the air temp, humidity, and barometric pressure and you get the DA. Best DA's are cold weather, low elevation, and even barometric pressure.

Think of it this way. Air is denser at lower altitudes or cooler temperatures. Denser air contains more O2 per volume and allows you to burn more fuel (= more power). Higher pressure is basically the same thing (more O2 = more power). Other things like humidity have an affect on how fuel ignites. The DA is a formula that trys to adjust your ET/Trap to what it would be if you ran at standard temperature and pressure. Hope that helps.

So everything else being equal, a DA of -xxx is better than a DA of 0?

Yes. The lower the number the better. Sorry about the Yahoo response for the technical answer. I thought that is what you were looking for. There is a website that does all this for you.
http://www.dragtimes.com You can find all the info for temp, elevation, etc. by finding the track and the day you ran. Give it a try.

With just radials and a good driver bone stock the M6 should see high 13s.

You sure about that. Since the best posted bone stock V6 on this forum is running 14.4XX's

With a perfect sticky launch due to the radials and decent DA I could see maybe a high 13 happening, but sadly we haven't gotten to see a stock M6 get close to that yet.

Radials can dramatically improve 1/4 times, every tenth off your 60 foot is almost 2 tenths in the quarter. When I went with my 6 for the first time I couldnt hook at all. The pirellis seem to be more of a racing/road course tire more than a drag tire. Wait til spring If Ive calculated correctly I should be able to break some records or at least raise some eye brows with the small amount of mods I am going to have on the car. |
