No, I think you're right. And the secret is in the aero...they mentioned that stanchion spoiler...for all that people gripe and moan about how it looks...the fact of the matter is - the Z06 has a giant parachute on the back of it to generate downforce...the ZL1 uses what amounts to an upside-down airplane wing...same push...less drag....a LOT less drag. And the evidence is here.
Plus, keep in mind the Gen 6 ZL1 has less (I think 2%) frontal area than a Gen 5 ZL1. That's significant when you reach these sorts of speeds.
Finally, the car has all sorts of strakes, scoops, chutes, and covers to reduce lift and drag at high speeds.
ZL1 is the real deal!!
