Manual shifter pattern? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I was just curious if the shifter on the LS camaro has reverse next to first gear or next to 5 or 6. My current car is a 5spd and had reverse over by 5th. I just hope if reverse is by first gear I don't accidently go into reverse ever instead of first.

The V6 manual shifter has reverse located near first gear. V8 manuals have it located near fifth gear. While the car is in motion, there is a solenoid that will prevent you from going into reverse. While the car is stopped, you will have to keep it out of reverse though I don't imagine that is too hard. You could always put it in second and then go straight up into first if you are that worried about it.

Even when the car is stopped, it takes quite a bit of effort to pull the shifter over to the left to shift up into reverse, when compared to any other gear. I highly doubt you'd ever accidentally shift into reverse instead of first.

True dat!
If you are pushing hard enough to "accidentaly" push into reverse, you are WAY over doing it.
