LSR Performance Shifter Install
Got my shifter yesterday and all I can say it is a huge difference for the better.
First off, special thanks to TAG UR IT for an extremely detailed post with photos and videos. Have a couple of additional tips. On the spring clips I used a bent nose needle nose pliers, makes it easy. You only need to remove the driver side spring clip. Twist the shifter/fork assembly towards the passenger side slightly, and slide the pin out. Here are a few photos. LSR Performance Shifter exploded view LSR Performance Shifter Assembled LSR Performance Shifter vs Stock Shifter Bent Nose Needle Nose Pliers Shifter lower installed with boot Upper shifter installed. You can see two of the four adjustment holes. I have it set for 33%. The top hole is for the lock screw. Shifter boot groove, height adjustment and shifter ball lock nut. Shifter ball installed working on height adjustment. All buttoned up. I ended up going up one slot on the adjustment. (front) so I'm at about 29% reduction. Final view. I love the reduction and the look is fantastic. ZooDad

I completely agree the LSR shifter makes huge improvement in shift feel. The shifter was the first modification I did to my car. Their other parts they developed for the camaro ( swaybars and frame braces) that I bought from them are fantastic too. Top quality products an staff real friendly and helpful. I say u can look to see some of the best quality products coming from this company

I installed mine this weekend...Reverse is hard to get into but 1-6 works great...Any ideas why Reverse is so hard to get into?

How short is the throw you have it. Also where is the position of the ball height? When you have everything at the least amount of throw you will have less leverage to shift. Which in turn makes it harder to go into the far gears. Pm me for more information or email me at aldo@lsrperformance.com Thanks

I have the adjustment screw set to the lowest setting...Only Reverse is hard, all of the other gears are easy to get into...Everything installed without issues as per the manual (square round seal, cage, 2 bottom bolts with retaining ring, the pin & clips, and the rubber cover.
What is hard is moving the shifter to the far right past 5th and 6th...pushing to get into reverse is not too hard but harder than the other gears. (5th and 6th are fine though) Quote:

I like mine.
Getting the bottom dust boot back on was a real challenge though! Also, I've noticed that you need to make sure you really push the stick forward for positive engagement in 1st, else-wise it may pop out of gear with a startling 'Pop' followed by a revving engine, burning clutch smell and a rather loud "Oh $h1t!" ... and reverse too. Not blaming the product; it's more like operator error. |
