Exclamation TIRE PSI

I know...at least for the pirellis that you are suppose to inflate in to 36 psi when theyre cold. However, when you drive obviously the psi goes up. Was just wondering how high everyones goes up to. Is above 40 okay?

i check my daily after i start it and during a normal drive. staring out @36psi your tire presure will get up around 40 to 41 psi depending on the ambient air temps.

As a general rule of thumb, so I was told, normal tire pressure will increase 1 psi for every 10 deg of temp. This looks to be a realistic number as I have noticed a difference when the sun is on one side of the car or with driving and warming up the tires as previously stated.

I've seen 42-43 on the DIC on hot summer days, 36 psi was starting pressure at sunrise...

I've learned that the DIC measurements are not accurate, they round up and are time delayed by 20+ seconds.

Even now in Florida, my DIC is reading 39-40 most of the time, from 36 cold.

The max pressure is marked on the tire.

It's 50 psi.

This summer, when the afternoon temp was 100+ a few times, my tires started out at 35 in the garage, and went to 42 on the road.

This thread was totally different from what I thought it was going to be. I'll inflate mine to 37psi cold... and within a month it'll be down to 33 or 34psi cold... and will continue dropping. They just don't hold pressure like they should.

Unlike the BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires on my truck... I haven't had to put air in those tires since I had them put on, 3 years ago.

the car salesman told me that that's why they put nitrogen in the tires...to keep them from fluctuating too much..wtf mine goes from 34 down to 28 depending on how cold it is.

Nitrogen is a 'dry' gas and will not expand and contract as much with temperature change as regular compressed air due to the amount of moisture in it. More humidity in the air that was compressed the more that you may have in your tires depending on if or how the air was dried or filtered leaving the compressor.
