If only GM supplied a manual with their cars explaining all the functions. Wait a minute...something like that came with mine. Surely I'm not the only one.

Competition mode is a handling mode. It will improve the performance of your Camaro when racing. It is the best performance mode for Stabilitrak.

You know, I have never understood why people post smartass crap about someone reading the owners manual. If you don't want to answer a question someone has, don't. No harm, no foul. It's pretty childish to take the time to post something that's only value is to be insulting and petty.

In Competitive Driving Mode, the StabiliTrak System helps maintain directional control of the vehicle by selective brake application and control of engine torque. The Traction Control System (TCS) helps control wheel spin and Launch Control is available. Adjust your driving style to account for the available engine power. See "Launch Control" later in this section.
A Launch Control feature is available, within Competitive Driving Mode on vehicles with a manual transmission, to allow the driver to achieve high levels of vehicle acceleration in a straight line. Launch Control is a form of traction control that manages tire spin while launching the vehicle. This feature is intended for use during closed course race events where consistent zero to sixty and quarter mile times are desirable. |

When the TCS comes into play, the system can reduce engine power and/or apply the rear brake(s) to limit wheel spin.
When AH is engaged by the computer, any of the brakes can be applied to help maintain directional stability. Scenario 1 - Both systems are armed every time the vehicle is started and both/either system can be engaged by the computers depending on circumstances. This is done so that the vehicle will assist the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle under most conditions. Scenario 2 - If I push the Active Handling button on the console, the FIRST thing that happens is that BOTH systems are TURNED OFF. This condition would not permit the vehicle's computers to assist in an emergency control situation. Scenario 3 - If I HOLD the button for 5 seconds, I enter Competitive Mode where the AH remains engaged but the TCS is disabled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scenario 1 is set each and every time the vehicle is started and is presumably the "safest" driving condition. Scenario 2 disables ALL computer assist and therefore would be the "unsafest" condition. Scenario 3 allows "half" as much computer assist and would therefore fall somewhere between safest and unsafest.

I think those might be off... Pushing the button once disables TC. Pushing it again with 'x' amount of seconds puts it into competitive mode. Holding the button for 'y' (7 I think) seconds disables ST and TC. |

You forgot the disclaimer on turning off the nannies... gonna be more sideways Camaros and gloom and doom people in here before long... (Disclaimer) Folks... If you plan on turning off the Nannies, TC SC, etc... or whatever... please make sure that you understand this car has the capability to and will very quickly get away from you if you are: 1. Not expecting it... 2. Inexperienced... to 400+ HP, (not to be confused with your old honda) 3. In traffic... 4. On public roadways... 5. etc... Make sure that you are in a safe area, preferrably a race track... failing that, a large open EMPTY parking lot (with permission) prior to turning off the nannies... GM designed them for a reason... You could get seriously kilt or injured or damage property at a very rapid pace... and you will be saying...WOW,,, what happened.. and posting pics of your damaged Camaro and trying to figure out some story to blame it on someone else, and the Ford Fan Boys will be posting videos of you on youtube saying look at this idiot Camaro driver showing off... blah blah blah.... Back to your regularly scheduled programming...
