Camaro V6 tranny
Does anyone know for certain if the V6 Camaro will get a 6-speed? If so, to me that is quite cool. (especially if it's the same exact tranny the V8 would get. If it's the T-56, that's an expensive tranny.
I would think a V6 with an extremely high gear could easily get over 30mpg. |

more than likely they will get the same tranny, but the v-6 will prolly have a higher gear ratio in the back than the v-8 will. prolly 3.23s or something where the v-8 would have 3.73's

I don't think the V6 will come with a M6. I think it should but I don't think it will. I agree the gears in the rear may differ.
All the speculation is givin me a rash...

If the V6 got a 6 speed that would give it an advantage over the competition. It would be nice and I'm sure its been considered, but its also very likely it will get a 5 speed.

If you folks have been paying attention it has been confirmed for a while (almost since the Aug. 2006 confirmation of production) that all Camaro trim levels and all engines will be available with a 6 speed automatic AND a 6 speed manual.
On all engines, V6 and V8. GM is phasing out the old 4 speed automatic as we speak, the 5 speed automatic is only being used in the Pontiac G8 for this model year only (2008), their last 5 speed manual for a V6 was the 2002 F-body V6s, and they haven't built a V8 anything with a 5 speed stick since about 1989. The 3.6 VVT has been in the Cadillac CTS since 2004 and the manual transmission option has always been 6 speed. Will be the same for Camaro. |

^Yeah I mean even like the Chevrolet Lacetti (yes I know it's a Daewoo really) has a sixspeed manual and that thing DOES NOT have a V8.

When your Camaro was built, 6 speed autos were a pipe dream at GM. They were in the preliminary stages of development at other car companies, but not GM. It was only since Bob Lutz got on board that they started developing all new, modern transmisssions.
