How To: Adjust Your Mirrors to Avoid Blind Spots

I've seen a lot of people complain about the blind spots, even asking if cameras can be installed. If you adjust your mirror correctly you have no blind spots.

3 mirrors all looking directly behind you is inefficient.

Mmmmmmmmmkay, the concept seems sound but now we can no longer use our mirrors to back up.

Without mirrors you cannot see enough out of the back window to backup safely.

Just put a bubble mirror in the corner of the mirrors and viola, you can see the blind spots.

Full disclosure: I still look over my shoulders.

When one has to reach across the vehicle six times to get mirrors adjusted right it becomes cumbersome. Not so in the Camaro, it's a piece of cake to adjust those mirrors out to catch that blind spot with your fingertip mirror adjuster buttons. I don't need to see where the side of my car is but I do need to see that mustang I just passed so I can cut him off. j/k I would never do that.
anyway, I do adjust my mirrors like the article says, have for a few years now. It is weird at first, not seeing the side of your car so much, but it works for seeing that blind spot better. I can also back up just fine without readjusting the mirrors. And I'm a female so how hard can it be if I can make it work?? lol

here's what i did (and i don't know if anyone else posted this bc i didn't read everyone's post..lol)

so when i'm on the freeway and i see a car coming up to pass me i watch him in one of my side view mirrors and i adjust the mirror to where i can see him in the mirror all the way until i can see him when i look over my shoulder (did that make sense??)

anyway it totally works for me.... until my fiance drives my car and moves everything around... grrrr

There was a thread about this a long time ago... I adjusted my mirrors after reading that one and it works great! I do turn one of them down when I'm backing into a space though so that I can see the lines. It's pretty easy to pop it back up to the proper level when I'm ready to pull out...

I adjust my wife's mirrors like this too when I drive her car, but every time I get in it again, her car takes up half the mirror. There's no explaining it to her either... she likes them like she likes them... there isn't really a blind spot in her car anyway.

Yea it would be great if the Camaro had like some kind of memory program for the seat and mirror adjustments like some other cars do. That way if someone else drives your car you don't have to make sure everything is adjusted right, you can just press a button and everything is adjusted for you.

No need for bubble mirrors.
Adjust your three mirrors properly.
NO blind spots and no need to look over your shoulder.
All three mirrors cover everything behind you.

Agreed.
Don't they teach this in Drivers Ed anymore?

I think that link is onto something...I always hear people bitching about blindspots in these cars, but I don't have any with my mirrors set up the way I use them. My mirrors are so good, that I can actually see the exact same car in my rearview mirror and side mirror at the same time...there's not half second delay between mirrors like most people say.

Besides...I find the visibility in my Camaro to be very good...even if I don't want to trust my mirrors, I just look over my shoulder and, not only can I see everyone around me, I can see my own rear quarter...I could never do that in my little Civic.

I think all the people that complain about visibility just need to properly adjust their seats and mirrors and they'd be fine.
