Question about powder coated stock 20's

Every once in a while I come across these while browsing and I really like the way they look. I called a local place in SE Michigan (Exotic Coatings) that does this and they quoted ~$115 per wheel. Is that a typical price for this kind of work?

I know these are not the 20's but you get the idea. Something like this:

I would think that is a fair price, by the time they prep the wheel for powder coating, apply and bake it would seem to be fair. Mine cost around 250 per wheel but was more complex of a job.

Here is another option for you.

http://www.westcoastcamaro.com/p-386...oat-black.aspx

Basically how it works is this:
  1. You order the powdercoat you want (gloss, satin, matte)
  2. They ship the wheels to you
  3. Take them to a local tire shop and have them mount your tires on the powdercoated wheels
  4. Ship the stock wheels back in the boxes they came in
  5. They refund the core charge upon arrival
This is the way I went. It's a little more expensive, but having the car on stands for a week or more wasn't an option for me. PM if you have any questions.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Although the thought of them hitting my CC for close to 3K scares me a bit. I would be eagerly awaiting my core charge refund.

That's highway robbery! You definitely paid for the convenience, that's for sure. Looks pretty legit though. Like the results?

I am very pleased with the results. Where I live, the closest powdercoater is 90 miles away. Also, they are notoriously slow and more expensive than what you were quoted. With mounting, TPMS sensors, balancing, and shipping, I was under $700 for the whole project and had them on the car in an hour. I would have been well over that with gas and time going with the "local" shop. I would have also been without the car for at least 10-14 days, which was unacceptable.

I went with the matte (flat) finish, which matches the rest of the car perfectly. I will try to get a few decent pictures, but I'm out of town for a little while.

IOM. But the rear bowtie, tail light bezels, and hockey stripes are flat black so it matches nicely. Here is a crappy cell phone pic until I can get some better ones.
