Powder coating question.
How easy is it to "mess up" a powder coating job.
I recently dropped my car off to have the rims powder coated flat black, which was over a week ago. Called today to see how they going since its been longer then they thought and was told that they "messed them up and were re-doing them." Is that a believable story? Or am I getting a lot of BS? |

It is possable to mess up the powder coating. If the powder isnt put on evenly due to the charge not being evenly ditributed throughout the wheel, it could come out splotchy looking and to redo it you have to strip the whole wheel wich is a PITA. The easiest way to strip it is to acid dip it and if thats not available they have to sand blast it of and that takes forever because powdercoating is TOUGH!

Its possible. Just make sure there are not going to be extra charges.

150 a wheel and 100 for mounting/balancing.
I haven't actually gotten the car back yet though, so we will see. |

A shop in Oakland quoted me 75/wheel but I would have had to brought them the rims by themselves, no clue where to put the car while it has no wheels. ![]() |
