Insurance

So I stopped by State Farm today to get a quote on adding a 2010 SS to my policy. We currently have an 08 Grand Caravan and a 97 CRV, both with full coverage. With adding the Camaro on at same coverage levels and current and lowering the milage usage on the Honda to limited use, is only being used for to and from work driving, it only increases my monthly policy by $70. My question is, do others carry full coverage and limited milage on their to and from work cars? Or just liability coverage on such vehicle?

For us it depends on the shape and year of the vehicle.

Personally I would drop the 97 to liability only. If you had to repair it once a year it would be less then the difference of liability vs full coverage so you would save money.

And thats assuming the 97 is free and clear. We talked about that too, granted I have to get the Camaro first anyhow.

$70 per month is more than my insurance went up and I have good coverage with low deductibles. The Camaro was an add on and not a replacement, just like your situation.

Really.....hhhhmmmm, Thats with a $500 deductible, multi car, multi line, actually every discount offered just about. Maybe age has something to do with it?? I am 29, wife is about to be 30. I didnt think it was too bad of a jump, especially for a 2010 model.

I was 29 when I got the car and my deductible is $200. The difference probably boils down to location, mileage, and or history. I'm not saying I pay a lot less (same ball park). But I also miss-read your question. I thought you were asking if $70 was a fair price.

As for your original question; I thought limited use meant that you only drove the car on weekends, or sunny days type thing.

From what the rep from SF said, it would be less than 7500 miles a year, my work is about 6miles or so away and hers is about 3miles away so it wouldn't be an issue to have it as a limited use, or maybe I should re-phrase to low milage use.

Our insurance went down replacing the 2007 G6 convertible.

Even with the "new car replacement" plan it is a little over $400 every six months for 100K/300K/100K full coverage with a $500 deductible.

I went from a '08 Civic EX-L and my rates dropped. Before that I went from a '06 Civic EX to an '05 Mustang GT, rates went down. GT to '08 Civic they went up.
