Help me brainstorm upon buying a new Camaro

Sup yall,

I want to buy the new 2011 Camaro LS Coupe. I don't think the extra 12K for the SS is worth my money, because I don't have a bank under my ass.

Anyways...

1. what do current LS owners think of their car?
2. What do you think about the gas mileage?
3. Am I making the wrong choice focussing attention on the LS?
4. Tell me anything you think I should know.

I think you are making the wrong choice by going with the LS. I was going to get the LS, and I waited a little while and upgraded to the 1LT/RS and now I wish I waited and got the 2LT/RS. I don't have an LS, so I couldn't tell you if it's a good way to go, but I am sure that no matter which one you get you will love it.

The LS is a good car. If your on a budget, go for it!

The gas mileage won't be as good as a 4cyl but it's hell of alot quicker.

I love having the LS. I get to start with the base model and mod it to my taste.
2. What do you think about the gas mileage?
Gas mileage is pretty good. I usually get 18-19 mpg city, and 28-29 at highway speeds (70-80 mph).
3. Am I making the wrong choice focussing attention on the LS?
That depends: The LS comes with steel wheels, no fog lights, manual seating adjustment, and no available RS package (HID, halos, darker taillights, 20" wheels, body color roof ditch molding).
Do you plan on changing the wheels and modding the car, or do you just want to buy the car and keep it stock? If you are going to mod the car (and don't mind the manual seats), then the LS is a good way to go without breaking the bank.
4. Tell me anything you think I should know.
Unlike other base model cars I've come across, the LS still comes with all the safety features (ABS, traction control, side-curtain airbags, stability control, etc.). As a downside for some, the LS and 1LT-non RS are speed governed at 118 mph, while the SS and RS V6's are speed governed at 155 mph.
Hope that helps!

I too kinda regret not getting the 2LT but here in cali they were expensive. 34k, i said screw it. It did look nice though.

You will love the car. Buy what is in your budget. If there are features you really want wait a bit & save up to upgrade. I managed to find an 1lt with some features I really wanted added on but much more reasonably priced than a 2lt. I get better gas mileage than I did in my Intrepid. It is my daily driver for a 40+ (one way) mile commute. My commute is much more fun now.

Skillz- The green stripes on the black look great! I bought gold stripes and am going to have them put on this spring on my black 2SS/RS.

I didn't even think about green, but it's to late now because I already have the gold stripes.

Great looking car you have.

eh. for me I would rather have an engine and 4 wheels. For me it has always been what the car can do more than what it looks like. If it was me I would rather get an 06 GTO than a v6 Camaro. Not bashing on the sixers. Just loving power of the 8, and the gas milage really! isnt that bad with the 8ski. The 6er would be cool with a Turbo though !

I have owned both. I had an ABM 1LT/Non-RS and now I have 1SS/RS. I love the acceleration on my SS, but I miss the smooth floating feeling at 75 mph that the LT had. If you get the LT, I would strongly suggest you get the RS package.

Im confused what you are asking... The RS is the tire-headlight-spoiler package. Halos-projector headlights etc.. You can get them for both V-6 and V-8 models.

Edit: Though in the SS models the Non-RS will have the spoiler and the 20 inch tires. Just not the headlights.
