Multible CEL question - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I have a question about what happens if you have a CEL on from long tubes (or whatever mod issue) but then threw a legitimate CEL for something that needs to be of concern. Does it tell you that there is a new or additional CEL or whould you just never know since the light was on regardless?

nope.. same light. Which is why tuning out the CEL is important. So you know when something is really wrong.

i believe if the CEL is on, and another problem occurs, the light will blink and then go solid again.

Well I got my first Cel

= Check Engine Light is on...Now my remote won't start....

. I don't know why its on but I'm going to have to take it in to GM I guess to have checked out...any suggestions..

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that remote start won't work until cel is reset.

If that's true, I wonder if it does that upon every start-up, or just when the 2nd CEL initionally occurs....

lol, I wouldn't even care to find out. Why risk it? lol. Either tune, or stay away from things that will cause "false" CELs =p.

I would assume it's from your hi flow cats. In which case, the dealer won't help you. Go to autozone and have them read the code. In the mean time, disconnect your battery for 15 minutes. It will reset the cel and then try your remote start again.

It might depend on the reason for the CEL, but I would guess that it only blinks when it first occurs. But I'm not sure. Might want to get a reader and check it once in a while. I think u can get one for $50

And cheaper. I've had one for awhile and it reset the cel on this Camaro fine. It got to the point where it was almost a precheck before driving. If this is another set of posts directed at those driving without a tune, what do you think was there before we had lights going off in the dash? Pay attention to your car a little.

Drove around today and the Cel disappeared...everything back to normal..
