Quick Question on intakes

okay i am pretty sure im going to order the K&N Aircharger for my camaro but i was wondering.

will all intakes throw a CEL light on the dash? or only certain. because i recall when we installed the intake in my brothers evo a cel came up right away and when we did it on the honda s2k. a cel came up too.

any way to avoid this ?

Nope... no dash light...

now one thing.. apparently the maf housing/adaptor can be put on incorrectly and you can end up with the MAF in backwards... in that case the car most likely won't even run...

Oh.. and thanks!

That's what happens when Scrming answers the question. Most likely there isn't another response needed!

I just installed the K&N Aircharger on Saturday (yesterday) and did not receive a CEL, even though It did kind of sputter for a second.

The directions are very straight-forward, follow the directions, you cannot put the MAF in wrong. "Insert the Mass Air Flow Sensor, opening towards the air-filter." is the exact wording for the step you reconnect the MAF on...

be careful with the k&n filters (oil) we asked thee tech rep's that were down at the camarofest about the aftermarket filters (k&n) and he said that they could void warrenty's on the engine's maf sensor and iat sensor, the problem they talked about was not the filter itself, but the fact that when the filter is cleaned and reoiled, most people put to much oil back on the filter. The oil then messes up the sensor and causes problem's with the engine management computer there fore a light

Apparently the MAF housing/adapter plate can be installed "reversed" or flipped... resulting in the MAF being installed backwards... one of the members here had this issue and his car wouldn't start/run... Now... whether the plate comes pre-installed or is assembled by the buy, i'm not sure...

Ok, your right... The adapter plate can be put on two ways, one of which will result in your MAF opening toward the Engine.
