3 questions about suspension parts 1LE, BMR, Z28..

If given that both cars had the same RIMS and Tires would a camaro SS with the 1LE GMPP track pack or pack street make it handle the same?

Does the BMR parts Handle better than the 1LE

Is there any package between the Z28 and the 1LE? Lets be honest noway to shed weight unless I gut the trunk stuff..AC, ect.. lol so Its never be that good.. and I can't afford the brakes!

Given the same wheel/tire combination, it is definitely feasible to outperform a factory 1LE suspension set-up with the appropriate aftermarket BMR parts. On a 2010, I would recommend starting by upgrading to an FE4 style suspension in the rear. Now whether you do that with OEM rear lower control arms or the BMR lower control arms (TCA028 or TCA029) is up to you. Either way, you would need to change the rear lower control arms and upgrade the sway bars (SB037) to start. Also, if you are trying to achieve better performance than a 1LE, I would recommend a full set of Koni STR.T shocks/struts. Unfortunately, those rear shocks are backordered until August!!! After that, I would suggest upgrading to BMR Trailing Arms (TCA026), outer Trailing Arm Bushings (BK006), adjustable Toe Rods (TR003), Pro-Version Cradle Bushings (BK024), and Rear Upper Control Arm Bushings (BK039). That should get you where you want to be!!! Please feel free to call or PM me if you need any further help.

Is there a complete kit? would this kit have it all?

BMR Level 3 Handling Performance Package (SP109, SB030, BK023, ELK004, SFC015, DTB004) #HPP020 :: 2010-2011 Camaro SS

No, that kit does not have the components that I listed in my original post. In fact, Phastek is listing parts that are not in that HPP020 kit (ELK004). I will contact them to get it corrected. Personally, for what you are trying to do, I would not use that kit. It has cradle inserts instead of full replacement bushings, and still does not address the trailing arms & toe rods. As I mentioned, upgrading to an FE4 style suspension should be your first priority. If using the BMR lower control arms is out of your budget range, I would contact Tyler at JDP. I believe he sells an FE4 upgrade kit that utilizes OEM lower control arms. And I believe you can get it with the BMR sway bars too.

Here is a little info. FE4 is where it is at. BIG difference. Especially on a 2010 if you do any kind of racing. FE4 with coilovers or different shocks (Konis) sub frame bushings and you will be doing pretty good.

Always good to do your Toe rods w/ bushings, Trailing arms w/ bushings and Upper control arm bushings. Wheel hop will be gone and your car will be night and day from Stock suspension....

As mentioned in the link that Jerry provided, the biggest difference between FE3 & FE4 is the mounting location of the rear sway bar. The FE3 sway bar is shorter and connects with the end links on the inside of the rear shocks. The FE4 sway bar is much longer and connects with different style end links on the outside of the rear shocks. So basically, the mounting location of the sway bar is moved outward providing more mechanical leverage.

With the right combination of parts you can outperform the 1LE and Z28. For example, this past weekend at the Sturgis Camaro Rally Autocross, our JDP Camaro equipped with DSE suspension took fastest time of the weekend; beating a Z/28 by about 2 seconds. We also beat the Z/28 and L/28 at the USCA event and took home the fastest 5th gen trophy.

Feel free to give me a call or send me a PM/Email and I'll be happy to help setup a game plan to meet your goals.

Best regards,

Tyler

I think the better statement would be, "I wonder what time he could of posted with a Z/28".

Most the time when someone states I beat x, it will most likely be the driver not the car.

No panty in a bunch here..

Congrats on the win !!!

Thanks! While I do agree to an extent, the Z/28 did lay down a very respectable time and I believe was the next fastest 5th gen at the rally in the AutoX. (not 100% sure on that though)
