I can't give you a 100% honest answer because the truth is I don't know for sure, but from all the reading I have done over exhausts, and thats a lot, it seemed in most cases it did not help, and maybe even made it worse.

A regular x pipe, yes I believe that is correct, wont help rasp and may cause more at certain rpm levels from what I have read. But a resonated x pipe, basically a muffler with a x shaped internal routing will help kill rasp and drone and also make the car more quiet and also deeper and smoother in the exhaust note

ok well i ordered the Pacesetter cat back exhaust. I got it for over half off. It has an x pipe with some small resonators like about a foot long.

According to Chevy, they used an "H" crossover specifically to reduce rasp. The only X crossover that helps according to feedback on the forums is the resonated version, because it is a muffler as well as a crossover.

I am pretty sure I read that H-pipe helps low end torque and x-pipe is high end torque. The res x-pipe will definately help rasp for sure.

Pacesetter cat back come with 2 resonators and x pipe. There's guys here that installed pacestter including myself in the past but I believe we all had long tube exhaust to add on to it. Not sure how it will sound without long tube but with it I can tell you that it was terriblely LOUD and created terrible rasp at mid RPM. Hope that will help.

I dont know about the H pipe. The res X or regular x pipe is to help low to mid range torque over the H pipe but doesn't improve the upper end, at least what Magnaflow has told me.
