How does it sound??

I know there was originally some concern about how the exhaust would sound with the dual mode exhaust and people were discussing pulling a fuse, or the mild to wild upgrade, or changing exhaust out. My question is for those that have received their ZL1, are you happy with what Chevy has done with the tone of the exhaust?? Does it sound awesome or are people still changing it to bypass the baffled exhaust?

the butterfly valves remain open at idle -

they DO however close and open and close at certain points in order to comply with Federal Noise Drive-by Standards.

Can you change out the "h pipe" for an "x pipe" without changing the way it sounds? At least for the most part.

Sound is always an individual choice. For me I love the exhaust! Hands down the best sounding stock exhaust that I have ever owned. This is the first time that I will not even think about after market. You nailed it Camaro team!

I went by my local dealership today and luckily stumbled upon a ZL1 (#477) they just got it so they were going to go wash it for the owner who ordered and it sounded amazing, when chevy said you could hear it from 3 blocks away THEY WERE NOT LYING. It kinda shook you (just a little) when you stood close to it. It was loud but not too loud = PERFECT!

it sounds great....especially when you start the car. I let a friend of mine drive it yesterday. He had total permagrin.....he couldn't help but rev the engine a few times just to hear it....the car is fantastic....everything I hoped it would be when I placed a deposit 9 months ago.

Need I say more?

But - you need to understand....I'm ALL about the tone...I don't necessarily like my ears to bleed. It's plenty loud when it needs to be, and muffled when it doesn't.
