Recommended Oil Filter
I tried looking. I know it has probably been posted and discussed before. Frankly, don't feel like wasting any more time looking for it. What is the best oil filter for the V-8?

I don't know specifically what's the "best" but I use the K&N HP-1017

From the owner's manual - pf48
Been using AC Delco filters for decades, never seen a reason to use anything different from what the engineers spec'd for it. It has the right micron filter rate, the right anti-drain back valve... warranted by every GM dealer in the country (match that one with any aftermarket filter). Not that the warranty will ever be needed, I've never seen a bad AC Delco filter. |

i use the mobil1 filter.there are a lot of good filters out there.if you are using synthetic oil as i am,be sure and get a synthetic oil filter.

I suggest looking at Royal Purple, mobil 1, amsoil and k&n oil filters. Those are basically the best on the market, and from what I've seen, the RP and Amsoil filter have the best filtering and durability.

In order of best to less IMO.
1. Amsoil Ea15k50 (Guarantee's 15K) 2. Mobil M1, Royal Purple, Bosch Distance plus, Napa Platinum (no particular order) 3. K&N, Purolator PureOne, Fram Xtended Guard 4. Napa Gold, Baldwin 5. Reg Napa/Wix, ACDelco PF or UPF 6. All others

I believe in its capabilities from personal use with oil analysis reports backing up my OCI's. Besides, I know more than most cut and paste Amsoil dealers which are at least 95% of them.

Amsoil makes great filters as well. Part number EA15K50. They are a bit expensive. But worth the extra coin to keep your oil filtered well.

AC Delco Ultragard UPF48R. This filter requires a different wrench that a UPF48. High pressure canister same as on the ZR1 & Z06.

"GM requires the UPF48R for the LS9 application and is also used for the LS7 application as both engines are built at GM’s Wixom Engine Performance Build Center." |
